Makings and Made

Friday 18 May 2012

A busy little knitter is what I have been over the last couple of weeks. I have made this lovely shawl, deliciously warm and perfect for the winter weather that has arrived rather suddenly in this neck of the woods. I haven't even bothered blocking it, the weight of the yarn is enough to keep it beautifully in shape. The pattern can be found here.

And this lovely little rainbow scarf for Miss 9. She has been hounding me for a rainbow scarf for ages but I have been a bit fussy and not found any yarn I was happy with. Last week I found it and Miss 9 was very excited. The pattern can be found here.

I found both of these patterns through the great site Ravelry, so if you are a knitter and not a member, JOIN NOW!!!!

Special thanks to Rhonda over at Down To Earth and everyone who has left comments today. Rhonda mentioned my blog in her regular Friday post Weekend Reading. I have been a regular reader of her blog for a few years and I was so excited when I read her post this morning, I'm sure she could've heard me squeal with joy! Thank you also to everyone for the kindness shown in the comments.

Cheers

  1. Hi Popped over from Rhonda's blog and I'm so glad I did. What a gorgeous shawl. I looked at that pattern a while ago and was unsure about making it. Looking at yours has changed my mind...vbg. Love the rainbow scarf too - very colourful.

  3. Hi Mrs Homespun
Came over from Rhonda's blog. How persistant are you to have been blogging for so long and no comments! That is it, I will make you one of my favourites and comment regularly!
The shawl you made is AMAZING. Wish I could knit, crocheting is enough for me at the moment, but would love to learn to knit properly one day! Keep up the blogging work. I will definitely be back visiting your blog on a regular basis. Keep up the good work.
    Your bloggy friend

  4. I too have followed Rhondas link and found you. A lovely Blog.

Sometimes we can go for long periods with no comments being left and then the floodgates open, I am sure this will be the way for you now that Rhonda has highlighted your lovely Blog.

But the art Blogging itself is the pleasure, and whether we get comments or not, the beauty of a Blog is that you get your thoughts down in words and a photographic record of family life and time passing.

    I'll be back.

    Sue xx

  6. I have found your blog through down to earth and I have read every post..I have to say you sound verymu h like me.. I love books ( use to work for scholastic) I too wish for a bigger place to start living simply but like yourself I am making my current place home.. Real home. Your post on home routines sounds familiar to me..but after 8 years now of being a Stay at home mum my routine becomes a rythum , a daily flow. The house work fits in to my volunteer jobs, walking with friends and jobs outside of e home. My advice is a vision board. Grab a piece of cardboard and cut out pictures and phrases that you want to achieve and paste away.. Then hang it where you can see it everyday..it's a reminder of your goals...good luck

  8. Thanks so much for reading. The rainbow scarf yarn was Cleckheaton's California 8ply and for the shawl I believed I used Moda Vera Cardellino. Cheers.
